Personal Development Week: Highlights

Personal Development Week: Highlights

At the beginning of Personal Development week, Mr Thelwell challenged everyone to see how we could demonstrate love for others through community service. By Friday, everyone had risen to his challenge and shown that, individually and by pulling together, we can show love for our community by making an enormous difference:

  • 800 students involved
  • 270 students to Holy Island over the week
  • 16 coaches on site transporting students from sites as far as Holy Island to Hexham
  • 250 students through the Consent sessions
  • 180 Year 9 students visited the Port of Blyth for STEM learning
  • Youth for Christ spoke with over 55 students
  • 50 students in Year 8 visited Northumberland Zoo
  • over 2160 miles walked on the Y9 expedition
  • 1094 hours of community engagement – Isabella Heap, Crofton Fields, Blyth Beach and St Bede’s church
  • 316 First aid sessions delivered by the British Red Cross, St John’s Ambulance and Royal Life Saving Society
  • 337 students listened to water safety talks by RLSS
  • Y9, Y8 and Y7 Sports Days
  • 175 students on Kingswood residential
  • 420 trees planted and over 100 Eco club flowers planted.
  • 14 external speakers for specialist instruction
  • 10 different venues for onsite learning
  • 60 bin bags of litter collected from the Blyth Beach

An inspiring contribution to the environment, community and future custodians of Blyth!
