Today, Year 9 heard from Helena Swarbrook, Adolescents Worker from SORTED. SORTED is our local government funded and NHS approved substance misuse service. The service specialises in 1-2-1 support for anyone struggling with misuse or addiction. It is also highly committed to prevention. Helena informed our students about the risks they may be exposed to, from legal and illegal drugs, alcohol, vaping, solvents and even nitrous oxide (laughing gas). It is extremely sad and worrying that we need to address these dangers with the young people in our community. Nonetheless, Bede wants to stand alongside families in informing, supporting and protecting the most vulnerable amongst us – and being made aware of risk by the experts who understand it best, is the first step in staying safe.
