Personal Development Update: 14/07/25
Today, we welcomed back Dorothea Scales from FIDAS to remind our Year 10 students about the importance of consent.  Consent is a vital part of healthy relationships and failing to respect this principle leads to serious consequences for all involved.

As parents and carers will know, Personal Development sessions regularly highlight the importance of consent as we seek to help our young people understand and appreciate it well.  In light of this, Dorothea, a former Detective Sergeant in Safeguarding, outlined its crucial elements:
  • Agreement
  • Choice
  • Freedom
  • Capacity
and explained what each looks like in real life situations.

Our students listened maturely to the clear explanation and we can be confident they are now fully informed of the legal and emotional aspects of the issue.

We closed with a clear emphasis on the fact that the very best way to stay safe and enjoy fulfilling relationships, is to approach them with an attitude of respect and a character of humility, self-control and love.
