This week was Children’s Mental Health Week and Bede marked it with a PD focus on well-being in Key Stage 3.
Our Year 7 students looked at the changes of puberty and the range of new emotions they can experience at this time. Using Disney’s hit film Inside Out 2 and a special programme from children’s charity, Here4You, they learned ways to manage the feelings they may have, where to go for support, and – most of all – that what they might be feeling it is normal part of life.
To support each other too, Years 8 & 9 learned about the psychological and physical benefits of kindness. Science has proven that both the giver and receiver experience clinical advantages from a simple act of kindness. Each tutor group therefore wrote a letter of support and encouragement to a younger group in their House. Their words have helped spread the spirit of kindness across Bede today and were very gratefully received.
