Personal Development: Driving & Passenger Safety

This week in Personal Development, our Sixth Form students received a vital talk from Northumbria Fire & Rescue Service on driver and passenger safety. As many of our Year 13 students are now qualified drivers and our Year 12s apply for provisional licences, we want to make sure they know the risks and responsibilities they undertake every time they get behind the wheel. We are very grateful to Rory Barclay and his colleagues from West Hartford Blue Watch, for an excellent presentation on safe driving and their insight into how terribly things can go wrong. They certainly gave everyone pause for thought and we hope their guidance will help our students never have to know such consequences but instead enjoy the independence that being young drivers provides.
