Isabella Heap Tree Planting

Isabella Heap Tree Planting

This week students have been getting alongside the Friends of Isabella heap for hands on community service.  It’s the first in a series of community engagements this half term. The first groups have picked litter and with the help of the Woodland Trust planted over 100 trees.

We spoke with the students about how important the work of this group is to our community.  Every town has individual residents who don’t care for the environment and others wellbeing as much as they should and Blyth is no exception.  But what really defines us is the fact that Blyth is a community who care passionately for each other; who go out of their way to support one another; and who love being part of this community.

Blyth is full of heroes like the Friends of Isabella group.  Their work might only be seen by a few, but the benefits of it are felt by many.

Our students have made a difference this week and we are proud of them for that, but the real praise goes to the unsung heroes who keep the footpaths clear, who plant the trees and who ensure we can all be proud of our community.
