THE BUSINESS CURRICULUM

Our ambition is for students to develop a clear understanding of having businesses in local, national and international markets. Alongside developing a passion for deepening their understanding of the financial, human resource, operations and marketing elements of business.

 

As we identify the key knowledge students should master in business we think carefully about how we want students to think in business. We want students to:

  • Encourage enquiry and prepare students for an enterprising future through developing entrepreneurship and innovation.
  • Develop interconnectedness, through understanding of how global businesses operate in a competitive market.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of how business work.
  • Develop transferable (life) skills including: enhancing team working, problem solving, independent learning and communication skills.
  • Grow the confidence to make themselves stand out in a competitive working environment.
  • Have an appreciation of the ethical dilemmas and responsibilities faced by organisations and individuals.

 

The business curriculum is sequenced around the following key concepts:

  • Operations
  • Finance
  • Human resources
  • Marketing

 

Subjects include GCSE Business Studies and A-level Business Studies.
